vendredi
This week vanished unexpectedly. Several days of sunshine and one day sick in bed.. For the most part, it was lovely.
On the boards for this cloud-covered Friday?
major apartment clean-up
portfolio touch-up: preparing for Monday's interview (with fingers crossed)
print portfolio prototype
HANDS production: get orders out!
HANDS ideation: new products, presentation, etc
scheming for extra income ideas

jeudi
We had some amazing sunshine yesterday. Back to a textured gray this morning, but am feeling a little more well-equipped to handle it.
Yesterday was quite productive--lots of strolling about on the sun-drenched sidewalks (it was brisk but bearable with the sun on my face), tackling long-awaited correspondence, and
On the docket for this mid-February morn:
several cups of strong coffee
wishlist
portfolio & resume updates
workspace clean-up
a round of well-wishing
perhaps a few portfolio submissions
practice french and latin for my inevitable return to paris
And for dailymade? To be determined after my second cup of coffee. Stay tuned.

northwest palette
a tiny bit of blue beyond
The fifth consecutive gray day since my return to the northwest. Instead of sunshine filling the sky, I just see very large light-colored clouds.
Don't take it personally, Seattle. If I was constantly painting with this palette, I'd be criticized too.

george nelson
model of the american national exhibition
We have brainwashed ourselves into equating the new with the good, and the newest with the best, and the only remaining holes in the synthetic padding wrapped around our uneasy convictions are those intermittent fits of modernistic anxiety, so often expressed in nostalgic fads. -George Nelson
A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of visiting the George Nelson Exhibit at the Bellevue Arts Museum. Though Mr. Nelson may be most known for his contribution of the coconut chair, quirky timepieces, and Herman Miller print collateral, I think I was most inspired by his simple observations--of social trends, national perspective, and personal contribution.

olympic sculpture park
Today on the daily made: moody snapshots.
Took a walk through the winter mist this afternoon--through the Sculpture Park, along the Sound. Soaking in the Seattle gray before I head east tomorrow morning.
Listening to Girl from the North Country on repeat and hoping for a bit of sunshine.

project one
snowflakes and blackbirds, from my window
There is still snow on the ground, light flurries in the air. The streets are quiet. Seattle seems to shut down when the snow falls.
What's the plan for the daily made? First a late morning coffee, then snow-shoeing to downtown for lunch. Order packaging for HANDSworkshop, and finally today's project: a twenty-twelve calendar. Sixteen days into the calendar year, I am determined to replace the outdated December hanging on my wall.
